After a miserable first class, in which I stood in the back and listened to the most uninspired lecture, I went to visit the kids of the second class earlier so as to steal some of their excitement, and to hopefully prolong their own happiness before Dipshit-Sensei mercilessly sucked it away. When Sensei himself came to the class we both stood at the front and prepared for the Greeting. A very ritualized start of every class in Japan. The teacher least likely ever to be the subject of an essay praising that magical instructor who changed a student's life performed the greeting and ignored me. It was left to a girl off to the side to say, 'Sensei -- Roy's not giving a greeting?' I can't believe that it was unintentional.
(Third and final class was not much better. Or better at all, even.)
